I think his point was well-taken that we are often using coefficients and central tendencies to try to understand complex real-world situations in which the heterogeneity is actually the most interesting part.

I had the best time at these meetings and learned so much from this group. The grant that funded this made it onto Ted Cruz's list last fall, so you know this work is 🔥🔥🔥. Check the paper out to see the progress that we made! Special thanks to Ben Motz for his excellent leadership of this effort.

We talked about control-value theory today in Achievement Motivation, so we brought back this art activity (see thread below). @summerrobinson.bsky.social's "Yay! We had a great discussion about classroom barriers, safe classroom climates where we aren't afraid of making mistakes, emotions, and things that affect our outcome and efficacy expectations. Also, we all loved Summer's Lego cat! 🥰
