-trashy as it was creative MacGuyvering. I assembled a new hallway shoe thingy with two shelves for shoes and a cushion on top, and I estimate the house is now 5% less crappy. Very good for morale, very bad for all of my joints, but that’s what ibuprofen is for

I wish I hadn’t been too embarrassed to take a “before” picture because we had rigged up a system with long cardboard boxes held in front of the stairs by the shoe box to prevent our elderly dog from charging upstairs and being unable to get back down. You’ll have to take my word that it was as
