It just makes it's easier to swallow for those that choose to bury their heads in the sand. It's a catch 22 choose your own adventure but the outcome is the same. Being silent and taking a stand will both be a losing position.

The crazy off the wall behavior is nothing new but it only hurts certain people. The base will never oppose because it's not directly affecting them, but the opposition will react, and that reaction will be a easy way to implement what was already known to be the plan.

We already know what he wants to do. It's much easier and much more advantageous to silence violence rather than people. He is looking for a reaction. He is pushing your buttons, so when you react, his actions to silence it will be a heroic response.
