Did a ride after work. It's been a poor year as life got in the way of establishing a regular routine. There is always next year. Will need to start taking my big light out as the daylight disappears.
Still my Arctic Dazzle Camouflage Hi Viz seems to work.

He was Royal Engineers, 7th Armoured. Allen Cornah.

Reading this. Lots of ego removing stuff. Eye opening.

Ride Out to see Joe from Afar at Glastonbury Festival.
Warm but weak sun so not too hot. People on foot, in buses & taxis going to\from Worthy Farm from the glamping sites. Lanes nearby closed to vehicles but they let me through.

An evening trip up & down the Vistula. Then a walk back to the hotel through The Old Town in the remains of the day's heat. A Proud Polish flag flies above the castle tower.

An Evening Ride of Bergy Bits and Levels.
Late out to let it cool down. Mostly the route from Monday + a bit. Some determination & go for this one. Riding away from, not into, the Sunset. Hopefully a metaphor.

Out on my Roubaix for the 1st time this year. And it is that time of year again; either Glastonbury Festival approaches or it's the last camp before the Alma. Pretty much the same, really. A gentle evening ride in mellow sunshine.

Late work finish tonight. Short of time I pushed it fairly hard (for me). Back in time for the highlights of today's Giro stage. 👍🏻

Evening Bike Ride, a loop from Glastonbury up to The Strawberry Line between Wells & Shepton Mallet and back in the cool of the early evening. Included some cheeky climbs.

Sunny Sunday Ride.
Still nursing the recovery of a saddle sore picked up a few weeks ago. Therefore a shortish ride but tried to push hard to make the most of the distance. Lots of cyclists out. The Somerset 100 was on but was pretty much done by the time I went past Sweet's.

Out At Last.
Sanity Saving Ride after work. Well, it is Mental Health Week. An escape from the Madding Work Crowd round my local lanes.

Cycling the Blackthorn Blossom.
A short ride around The Levels amongst the Blackthorn Blossom on a cooler, sunny Sunday. Nature going for it; not a care in the world.

Warm, After Work Ride (and then the sun went in 🥶).
Lots going on in the sky. Mare's Tails falling out of cirrocumulus to form a cirrostratus layer with 22° halo & southerly arc parhelion. House Martins flitting around the cottages to the hooting of an owl just coming out for its evening patrol.

Burley Wood Hill Fort in Devon is Iron Age, multiple ditches & banks on a ridge above River Lew & a tributary. It has a motte & 2 Bailies as a bonus. First visit (even though it's local) and was somewhat cautious given the signs saying Private Land, stay on the track.

Blustery End of Work Day \ Week \ Month \ Quarter \ Financial Year Ride
Thankfully. Out into a bit of a brisk wind. Cycling uphill into a stiff headwind was not the unbridled enjoyment I was led to believe it would be. Still unfit. One ride a week is not cutting it.
March 28, 2025 at 10:25 PM
A ride out today. So very unfit. Too long between rides. First ride with mitts rather than full finger gloves, so there's that.
March 22, 2025 at 10:19 PM
My first Coffee Stop Social Ride (Grand Tor Cycling Shop Ride). So many cyclists out today. Got waving fatigue & drivers were considerate. Sweet's was rammed. Lovely group on the ride.
March 9, 2025 at 9:49 PM
My ride today started in weather that was, technically, sunny. Still in a cold, Easterly wind but dry (mostly) lanes. De-stressing after work. Back in the dark.
February 18, 2025 at 9:59 PM
A cold, east wind dominated my ride today as well as the continued grey-out. Cold feet despite two pairs of socks & winter overshoes. 🥶 AVG temp 1°C. Nevertheless, good to be away from the stream of drivel emanating from elected (& non-elected) US Government "officials".

The increasing madness of.....
gestures in all directions, at everything...
drove me out of the house late this afternoon into the welcoming wet, cold & muddy lanes of The Levels. Back after dark. Mind clear. OK, clearer. Mostly.
Only 4 drivers came close to killing me.
February 11, 2025 at 10:00 PM
A bit of sunshine this morning so out on my winter bike. Learnt my lesson from last week & didn't push on for the extra 10 km. And beat the rain home. Tailwind to start then headwind for the middle 3/5ths & tailwind for the run home down The Long Drove. Lots of roadies out today.
February 9, 2025 at 5:03 PM
First ride in a month and I really felt it in the last 10km.
The Levels had the remnants of flooding that I splashed through and the lanes were still wet & muddy despite yesterday's sun. Good to be out and Far From the Madding Crowd.
