Epstein is not the most critical issue of public policy — I’d rather have hearings on climate change — but it’s reached a level that some kind of definitive public inquiry is warranted

That's definitely an unusual development and may warrant registering — my point was just that the publishers weren't dropping the ball by not registering everything, that's pretty standard

In general this is not a big deal — words are copyrighted the moment you put them on the page

You have to register if you are going to sue someone for infringement, but most authors never have occasion to do that

Maybe King, Grisham, etc. have their books registered but for most it's not necessary

I personally thought the Epstein files would contain something stupid that only Trump would find really embarrassing (e.g., a copy of his prenup, an admission that Mar-A-Lago is covered in asbestos) until the Dems started really pushing to release them and Trump went crazy

It's not that the Democratic senators didn't adopt my particular strategy; it's that there doesn't seem to have been any strategy whatsoever.

we all remember that Casino Royale didn't start with Daniel Craig playing a newly-minted 007, but with an elaborate explanation of why he doesn't resemble Pierce Brosnan

We had neighbors who were cardio surgical nurses and so they were doing very long shifts but limited by law to 3 days a week

In their off hours they gardened; their place was immaculate and put our front lawn to shame
