I think I became a leftist after reading this book and now my political opinions are strongly tied to my spirituality. I would not call myself a Christian but I have sympathy and deep respect for the teachings of Jesus, and that directs me to care about social and economic justice.

Especially now, I think it is important to look back at progressive, leftist voices within Christianity/ teachings of Jesus and bring those ideas into the conversation.

I decided to record myself reading it, simply because I love reading out loud but also because I thought it'd be an interesting idea to reproduce Tolstoy's work in a different medium than text, and possibly diversify the religious/spiritual content available on social media/internet.
