Now ask if they think people who have lived here 20 years should be sent back when their country is safe. Ask if they think children should be evicted to a country they've never been to. You might get a different response.

The death penalty doesn't work well as a disincentive, because people who commit such crimes tend to be impulsive short-term thinkers. It's the reason why an immediate 1-night prison stay can work well for some minor crimes.

Some modern reactors only produce small amounts of waste, which don't remain radioactive for as long. Unlike in the past, the main downside to new reactors is upfront cost rather than safety.

Here in the UK, a friend of mine is having a hysterectomy at a private hospital. It will cost ~£7,000, including the hospital stay. What's wrong with the US health system that a broken ankle costs $64k?!
