Midwife, educator, parent, general purpose nerd. Tangata tiriti. Most at peace underwater, most at pieces online, but here I am, regardless. (she/her/not as straight as my life makes me look)
On an entirely different note from auroras, I befriended a seahorse today. At least I thought I did, but I don’t think the seahorse agreed.

Nearly gave up after just sitting staring at a very static green arc for two hours, and then suddenly it was all go, send visible to the naked eye.

We’re just home from a three week trip to the UK, our first away from our ginger boy, and I’m honestly moved by how happy he is to have us back.

Been getting up close and personal with the underwater critters again. They are just so curious, and so calm.

I still can’t get over the floofiness of my cat’s toe beans. Positively luxuriant.

Do you need some green? I think a lot of us need some calming green right now and I was lucky enough to get lots today.

This one is known as Sylvester to the locals and he swam over and over and over us. I loved the sharks in Fiji so much 🥰

It took some time but I’d like to milk some sympathy from this bruise, it covers more than half my lower leg.

Six likes; yellow. It’s a colour I’ve come to in my forties having severely under appreciated it for far too long.

Five likes; NUDIBRANCHES! These wee sea slugs are so ridiculously flashy with a serious 80s postmodern vibe, and I’m never not happy to find one

Four likes; This guy, who joined us in November and is too adorable for words.

Two likes; octopuses. I love octopuses. They’re the creepiest kookiest most wonderful things to see, and quite often they want to play.

Kiddo asked to do a horse trek for all of us this summer and we managed to choose the best weekend of January so far. I don’t know how I gave birth to a horsey kid but I’m glad because it’s the second trek we’ve been on an I loved it.

Nice work Wellington, nice work.

It’s not been the best summer for diving with these choppy changey winds but I can always find something to enjoy about a dive 🤿
