Foreign students shd be removed fr immigration stats. Most return home shortly post-degree & while here enrich educational & cultural experience for home students, contribute expertise & research power, & increase British soft power. Their fees underwrite domestic uni programmes too.
On students, the latest quarterly statistics show that in the year ending September 2024, there were 392,969 sponsored study visas granted to main applicants, down 19% from the previous year

At the end of a badly bruising week for UKHE, a reminder that even when measured in the narrowest economic terms, UK universities are stonkingly good value for money. 2021-22 for example saw a return on government investment in 1st degree students' teaching of £13 for every £1 spent. (page 3) #UKHE
