Thank you for the info. I don’t have a Breakout EDU account. Are the locks generally about a specific type of content? I’m simply interested in the idea of offering regular digital puzzles and looking for ideas. Was thinking of making some weekly ones based on my district’s digital resources.

I made my own breakout boxes (I think I’m gonna call them “break-in boxes”) and will be using them for orientation this week!

This is very important to me. Kohn warns us that the extrinsic motivation of rewards can have a long-term negative outcome on the desired behavior. Reading in this case. The closer the reward is to the activity itself the better for encouraging the original activity.

Also created a thematically connected treasure hunt. Pablo the Polar Bear is hiding around the library, doing a different challenge activity each day. Kids find him, write down which winter challenge activity he’s doing, and enter to win a LEGO prize. This part was a student idea!

Students who complete at least one activity will be eligible to choose a free book as a prize. Students are also asked to set their own goal. We’ll see how it goes this year. #EduSky #Skybrarian #TLSkyChat #SchoolLibrarian

I ♥️ this & appreciate the details. Where do you bake—the school cafeteria? If so, do you mix in the cafeteria too? Our school cafeteria is not allowed to cook food from scratch, only heat prepared items, so not sure if I could implement I bake a lot at home. Would love to share this w/kids

Just finished this one. What a suspenseful ride! Once I got 100 or so pages in, I couldn’t put it down
