Primary care nurse in the downtown eastside and Canadian arctic. Public health. Harm reduction. Global health. Sanitation.
Aahhh. It’s been a train wreck to watch. Just gets more and more bizarre!

You should check out Kristen nagle. Former NICU nurse who hosts conferences on “free birthing” where Billie Harrigan presents. She now “sells gold” in an mlm scheme & just moved to Nicaragua. Pushes German new medicine, her child’s fever is just “separation anxiety”

My 80 yr old mom loves my tattoo (fireweed) and my 85 yr old dad wants me to make him a “gaza” tshirt. They text me when one of my “nice people take drugs” tshirts is on the news. Wait, I think my parents are cooler than I thought….

Essential enough to be ordered back to work. Not essential enough to be paid for all their work

Sadly the CBC titled and referenced “airborne fentanyl” rather than “second hand smoke”. I definitely used to get crack smoke headaches working in a downtown unit but never got “high” as a title of “airborne crack” would imply…

Listened to an interesting cbc show this morning about the motivations to be in army when one is anti-govt. extremist groups may advise it in order to get the weapons training.

Yes. But that doesn’t mean all folks in the army are white men. Just sharing my observations of a military unit in vancouver. There was racism present but the army members are evolving.

I dated a reserve military guy not long ago. He was Chinese Malaysian. Outgoing commander south Asian Kenyan. And 80% of reservists in the unit were south Asian (strong military service background) and Asian. The white guys were the old retiring ones.

Or be like my 84 yr old dad. He saw you on the news in edmonton once with “nice people take drugs” shirt and he texted me “alida! Your drugs shirt is on the news!” Very proudly :-)

Studies have shown that COVID had caused an increase or new onset of mcas in 30% of people. With long COVID I now need to take reactive bid. I’ve never had allergy issues in my life prior

The only doctor seeing Long COVID patients in BC has 4500 patients. No specialized care or appointments. Not even prescribed meds were covered for me & I’m a nurse with a good health plan. Talk about neglected!!!! I literally have to “do my own research”.

This 1987 video on Alberta’s opposed to seat belts demonstrates the “alberta mentality”. If the govt says you should do it, people are automatically opposed. Despite evidence and common sense.

From the archives: 1987 seatbelt law divides Albertans
It's been 29 years since Alberta introduced its mandatory seatbelt law amid protest from many drivers who felt the province was too heavily dictation how they drive.

I’m often embarrassed to say I’m from alberta. ironically, they have one of the best vax tracking systems in the country thanks to the public health clinics & that 99% of vaccines are administered by nurses in public health clinics vs BC ragtag system of childhood vaccine admin.
