But it also means that politicians should take note: do not throw marginalized groups under the bus. You can win while being principled and valuing morals and decency. And you need to run on actual policies that speak to people’s needs.

Similar stories have been happening a lot lately with tourists from Pakistan, Poland, and the UK. All travelling to Thailand and ending up in some form of confrontation with local trans s*x workers.

It only ended in mediation without jail time, but he had to pay a compensation.

And we can point to many better examples who haven’t cozied up to authoritarians like Steve Bannon and stood strong on queer issues across the country like Walz, Pritzker, Mamdani, AOC, Crockett, etc.
