Honestly, I love seeing these people squirm.

Yum. Yes I would. Except it's so pretty.

I literally do not understand this. Isn't assimilation the whole point of the USA? What does Mr Miller think the Millers, the Trumps, the Noems, the Patels, the Hegseths, the Bonginos etc etc ad nauseam did when they first set foot on these shores?

Although 'Claire Babineau-Fontenot' sounds pretty damn French to me.

This is the only explanation that makes sense.

I love this man AND he's my representative.

My daughter often leaves voicemails in French - we are both bilingual - and it makes me laugh and laugh. For the past few months though, instead of Siri saying "I'm sorry. I do not speak that language" when I get a text in French, I get a crisp young man with Macron vibes and perfect enunciation.

"glaring reminder of Trump’s limited shelf life". It's occurred to me over the past couple of days that what we will see emerging is Trump's naked self-interest vs Republicans. He couldn't give a toss about the mid-terms except in so far as they could affect him personally. Interesting times.

If it's me, and I happen to be driving past a lion, I would be roaring. I have a superstition that means I make the appropriate animal noise when I see an animal. It started on the motorbike. I was once stumped when I rode past an alpaca farm. They hum, apparently.

Don't we all?

I love that "I'm glad things like this exist" feeling. We need to acknowledge it every day. That cloud/mushroom/dog? I'm glad it exists. A quote from Shakespeare/Dylan/Joy Division? I'm glad they exist. The sound of rain? I'm glad it exists. Seamus Heaney? I'm glad he existed.

I have just returned to the USA, where I live, from the UK, where I was born and grew up. One of things I miss over here is phrases like "Look at the absolute state of him." Americans don't say things like that, and they don't understand it when I do.

For some reason, I went on to X yesterday and looked at the 'For You' feed. It was ALL political. 75% alt-right, with the other 25% hard-left. I'm not either of those, and I used to like Twitter because some people there made me laugh. There was none of that. Many many Musk tweets. It revolted me.

There's a LOT of discussion about this on the #leftcatholicism subreddit. The man represents a certain wing of the Catholic Church; what he says does not surprise me one bit. You cannot discuss with these people.

I mean, it should, shouldn't it?

Does it reference Alan Garner?
