This morning I am taking part in a panel for the @nhsemployers.bsky.social Disability Summit on 'Exploring Neurodiversity'; contributing my thoughts as Chair of @dptnhs.bsky.social Neurodivergent Staff Network.

“Thank you from the bottom of my heart for being so welcoming and inclusive, you probably think you haven't done much, but for me it's felt as though you've gone the extra mile to ensure I felt connected and valued. Which is soooooo important! The staff network is not to be underestimated and it's important Neurodiversity has a place at the table - there are lots of us sparkles out there right, just waiting to sparkle! ” “It feels like a really welcoming, safe and inclusive space where I feel understood. Helps me feel less alone! That's probably a bit dramatic, but it is so valuable to be able to talk through difficulties in a problem-solving way with others that share some of the same issues. ” “This space has helped me to understand what I could ask for (reasonable adjustments), and dare to ask for them”

A year of waiting, of preparation, of form filling, anxiety & most crucially supporting a (not so) little boy with a lack of sufficient support at school. And the LA decided to concede 3 hours before tribunal - they could have done that 12 months ago but no....this is the issue with the SEND system!
