I think it’s to do with the environmental impact of data storage and transmission. The resources needed to run huge servers include vast amounts of electricity and water plus rare minerals. I’ve also read about the locations of servers being problematic for political and enviro reasons.

I really enjoyed reading! Can definitely relate to the sadness / madness that creeps in when my hands aren’t busy with something. Took me til a few years ago to realise that when I start regularly crying for no reason it’s probably because I need to make! Thanks for sharing 🙂
