A glimpse into #childhood in Roman #Egypt - some wooden action #toys from Karanis: a toy sword, a toy hammer, and a toy weaver's comb.

Some archaeologists consider their role to be to explain humanity to itself. Some to be stewards of the past, some to attach communities to place and the post through stories.
Why would you allow rich white men to dominate those roles?
The lack of diversity undermines the purpose of the discipline

@rachelcrellin.bsky.social chose to mark her Outstanding Achievement archaeology award with one of my artworks 🥹 In case you weren’t able to see it on the day here are some pics. It’s a ‘blind embossing’ of the Desborough mirror.

I agree with Rob… this was the TAG highlight! Exceptionally proud of an exceptional friend @rachelcrellin.bsky.social
My @tag45.bsky.social highlight was seeing my brilliant friend @rachelcrellin.bsky.social receive the TAG award for her outstanding contribution to archaeological theory. The acuity, clarity and compassion in her work is a constant source of inspiration.

Thank you @tag45.bsky.social for a wonderful few days, and the opportunity to share some early stage experiments from my PhD.
I also hugely enjoyed the range and quality of creative work on show at @tag45.bsky.social this year: Rachel’s prize artwork was by the hugely talented @aliceclough.bsky.social, who also produced a startling sound installation using sounds derived from archaeological archives
