In the centre of the picture a weed grows on a wooden beam, juxtapose against a metal fixture. The beam cuts across the picture just underneath the half way point and another beam joins it and cuts vertically down the photo towards the viewer. Behind the beam is water, darker at the bottom in more shadow, sparkling at the top in more light. The vertical beam is covered in a lime green lichen, flat and circular in pattern. The image is pleasing in that it is an unusual focus on a weed and aged and weathered wooden beams. Centering the weed above the sparkling water, it reminds us to appreciate small signs of life growing in overlooked areas.

At first glance it isn't obvious what this photo is, but a closer inspection shows shattered glass which is attached to a backing allowing it to have maintained some shape. This lies on brown decaying leaves, and the blue and green and white of the glass juxtapose against the brown. It evokes ideas of other landscapes, perhaps ariel shots of glacias or mountains against woodlands, or breaking waves against a cliff edge. It also explores decay, as both the leaves and the glass are discarded items. The composition is so that the brown leaves are in the top quarter, and the darkest of the glass in the bottom.

A pale pink flower is half opened. It grows on a thin branch surrounded by other bare thin branches in front of a brick wall. The image is composed so that the flower bud is in focus, but quite small and set off centre, in the lower right quarter of the image - emphasising that life is found here in a larger barren winter landscape.
