I am in the midst of this as a HR practitioner. After 25 years in this role I am dismayed by the current rhetoric and dehumanisation of people accessing HR services.

Suspicious Changes! In the USA since 2007:

- adult vaping skyrocketed
- adult smoking plummeted
- teen nicotine use plummeted
- lung cancer continued to drop
- COPD continued to drop
- child asthma... suddenly started dropping

Who benefits from portraying this as alarming?

Nicotine vapes entered UK & US markets 18 years ago.

For 1st time, more Great Britain adults use vapes >smoke cigarettes. 5.4 million >16 years vaped daily/occasionally in 2024 vs 4.9 million smoke. ie 10% of population vape vs 9.1% smoke—a figure that’s down from 10.5% in 2023 @ianamossyd.bsky.social

Smoking cigarettes daily almost extinct in Norwegian women aged 16-19 thanks to substitution by safer, smoke-free nicotine products. That’s one big step for tobacco harm reduction. 👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿
