Yeah, Duolingo does not work well for learning basic phrases for tourism in a few days or even weeks. You need months and a lot of patience, trust in the method. I hope the new AI-first strategy will mean the course will be more individualized and adaptive.

My experience was the opposite. It's effective up to a point, easy to pick up the basics, but then the progress slows down.
