My wife & I lost all 4 parents over 18 months, the last being her mother on Nov 3. So we know how important palliative/end of life care is. To hear on the news that some hospitals are having to do this in their corridors must be distressing for patients and loved ones alike 💔

-6 deg C on the meadow at Haughton Park. Our 1st Xmas without any parents, feels a bit weird. To those of you who have lost loved ones this year (human or animal) may you have the best Xmas you can.

A little list of some of my favourite words for the season. Some beautiful, others potentially necessary. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do.

@simonmayo.bsky.social Will we hear you this evening or are you still like Neil from The Young Ones?

4 deg C, not a breath of wind. Perfect winter weather for a morning walk with Taylor along Nairn west beach

A moody Moray Firth from Nairn beach this morning. Damp but remarkably mild for the time of year

Dear mother-in-law’s funeral today, back with her husband who left us a year past August. We’ve lost all four parents in 18 months 💔

Vet care needs to change. There is regulation of individual vets, but there is no regulation of the businesses that own the majority of the franchised practices who, on average, charge almost 17% more than independents. No price listing for common operations so you can shop around. Bit mercenary IMO

Anyone with an ounce of sense has known that Trump’s tariff tantrums continue to rock global economy and stock markets. Yet our Chancellor Rachel Reeves encourages working class folk to invest their hard earned cash rather than save it. Read the room Rachel 🙄

Me & Donna are a bit soppy; we always think of pets that have gone are paying our memories a visit from the rainbow bridge when we see a “Doubler”

Up in Nairn for a few days. Taylor loves the beach and a swim, retrieving tennis balls; body surfing waves back to the shore.

That’s the refill of our middle log store started for next winter. 1 & 1/3 rows so far; each log store takes 4 rows. Not bad for only the 2nd day of official Spring!

@simonmayo.bsky.social @greatesthitsuk.bsky.social A bit anorakish I know; ELO’s Last Train to London “I really want tonight to last forever”, section is musically almost identical to the closing theme of 70’s Mary Tyler Moore Show

Wife’s mate broke left wrist in Nov then right humerus 3 weeks ago😞 They’re heading into Aberdeen for lunch at Amuse by Kevin Dalgleish then matinee Scottish Ballet Nutcracker at HMT as a morale boost. January’s too long!

The @fia is now an @F1 dictatorship, operating with impunity and accountable to nobody. Meting out punitive measures against any driver or team that dares to criticise them.

Should I be surprised at the lack of reporting by @BBCNews and @SkyNews of Elon Musk’s nazi salute? Just trawled through both their apps; not a thing 🤷‍♂️

Sad to hear of the passing of legend #denislaw My father-in-law (who passed away last August) went to school with Denis at Hilton, Aberdeen. He would often tell us that Denis’ scrawny, spectacle wearing, almost geeky appearance belied his footballing talent.

Jonathan Gullis still complaining he can’t get a job because of the “woke agenda entrenching the education sector”. No mate, it’s your lack of moral compass and bullying demeanour that’s the problem 🤷‍♂️

Folks; if you have a bird bath, try and keep it thawed out for a few hours a day during these sub-zero conditions. Dehydration is a real problem for birds in this weather
