The Electoral College is bad for more reasons than just marginalizing urban voters. It in fact marginalizes rural voters (in blue states) too.

Again, not arguing the main point at all. But I *get* why the overly long school closures have been the main focus. It was by far the biggest factor (in terms of scale) and it's a thing we can take concrete lessons from. The trauma impact is a much tougher nut to crack (though worth the effort).

Mamdani's stated policy goals aren't all that different from BdB's when he was first elected. Seems the main difference is that he actively calls himself a Democratic Socialist. Gee, I wonder what else that's different about Mamdani could have certain ppl so up in arms 🤔

Agreed. It raises a valid concern but "does more harm than good" is a huge and counterproductive leap.

Yeah it takes a valid observation and then goes nuclear on the solution. Should we go a step further and suggest white people shouldn't bike for transportation because it reinforces a stereotype? The actual answer is to find ways to make bike buses more inclusive rather than just *not do them*.

I gave up the 30 day card years ago, well before WFH was a common thing. Just wasn't worth it anymore. But this sucks because it hurts people who can't WFH the most, which def skews more towards lower income folks.

I'm also always jealous of the RER integration into the system. We could do that here, if we really wanted to, with the LIRR and MNRR.

The Paris Métro stations are also SO CLEAN. Yes, I know they close them at night but that can't be the only reason.

Frequent transit service has been my experience across Europe, but Paris may be the best of all of them (at least of the cities I've visited).
