I wish I could stay out for a longer hike, but the cold is brutal and puts me at risk of an anaphylactic reaction. Out on the meadows, at least there’s a small chance that one of the horse folks would find me if something went wrong.

By design? What an absolutely ludicrous take. By that logic: Every single country in the world is inherently evil, and so nobody should every try to fix anything or affect society in any way, because the only solution is tearing it all down… Ridiculous, defeatist, and completely morally exploitable.

Don't think you'd like that; i.e. being hated by smart people. They can be just as malicious and vindictive as anybody, except they'd know how to do it more sneakily, and with far more devastating consequences if they so desired.
Just stop reading comments for a bit; half are venting posts anyway.
