The internet is missing a .spy Top-Level Domain for my x-mas side project... why aren't the spy agencies making a fuse about this?!

For me, next year will be the year of spiffe.io. Although we've been relying on it for some time already through our tight integration with Istio. I want to push it a layer down toward the infrastructure (where it belongs). Once you have it in place, multi-cloud discussion becomes so much simpler.

Just booked my flight for KubeCon NA 2025. If you have to pay it out of your own pocket, better be fast when prices are low. I shouldn't have waited... the prices were lower a few days ago. Airplane tickets are like gambling.

A Cloud Native local chapter reboot. It was fun meeting everybody. And we made lots of plans for next year… like a blue sky account 😀.
On Wednesday night, the Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF) Belgium 🇧🇪 chapter began (for some of us) and reunited (for others)—and it was a blast!

@bsky.app could do a server split and run a server in the EU region, and sign its citizens up on that server. It will grow, a relative big server, and prove that the @atproto.com protocol really works... and at the same time, make some bureaucrats happy.

I would pay for an edit option. As a dyslectic, I constantly type typo's. My coworkers even see when I use AI because it makes less typo's 😬.

Let's see how resilient 🦋 follows are: Light mode for the win!!! Well, except for IntelliJ, but that's because of the Darcula theme... and maybe zed (running that in dark mode 🤔)... ok, ok... my terminal is black. But that's it... I think 😶‍🌫️.

A few weeks ago, I presented at ArgoCon (co-located KubeCon event). My second presentation where I created my slides with slide.com, the online editor from the authors behind reveal.js: 30 sliders for 10 minutes, so full of animations. Loved the editing experience. slides.com/alexvanboxel...

Today, I've started picking up some work on my little part of the @opentelemetry.io collector (the Google Cloud Pub/Sub receiver and exporter). I'm going to support the encoding extension, so I can support more than OTLP, it also allows me to extract an encoding that should not be part of the core.

I really don't like that posting is called `skeet` here. It's phonetically close to `scheet` in my month tongue (Dutch). And that means: fart 💨.

After about 18 years on Gmail, I'm ready to switch. I've been frustrated for a while now with its rule engine... I use rule engines a lot, to slice and dice my mails. I've evaluated Fastmail, as an alternative, for a few days now, and it's looking good.

In case you missed it: Bluesky runs on-prem. They migrated off of AWS months back.

So yeah, they DO need to put orders in for servers! (Good luck to the dev team!)

Yesterday at the @opentelemetry.io ContribFest as #KubeCon I had a very unusual question to ask... how do I deprecate *part* of my contribution to the collector? It's not something you easily ask at an online SIG meeting, seeing people in person rules. Thanks, Antoine and Pablo for the guidance.

The #KubeCon day after blues... preparing for a long flying home from Salt Lake City to Brussels. I think this was one of my most productive KubeCon's talking to many people and vendors. I'll be back.

Hey @kubernetes.bsky.social, now that KubeCon is over, you can make some time to be active here. A lot of your followers on X are moving here. And while you're at it, change to a custom handler so we know you're the real deal.
