M:tG, kaizo, triathlons. Conventionally weird.
I'm sure all the fans are posting this, but apparently @xkcd.com is popular

I know it's a minor editing error, but the Phillies trading a player to themselves is such a wonderful image

I hate these sort of headlines:

1) I haven't read the original paper, but i bet that's not a conclusion the data support

2) no, it means i have a cat that will claw me awake if i don't have a blanket on

I'm not sure how many hitters skubal has started off with a changeup this year, but it's a lot. The man is a psychopath (complimentary)

It seems that Dorothy finally got with a producer who understood what made the first album good. Good for them.

A Game of Universe is my favorite Nylund work. Not sure how I'll react to the ending, but I'm in dire need of some comfort reading.

Despite my penchant for melodic metal with folk inspired elements, eluveitie is a band I've always struggled with. Sometimes, the disparate instruments blend seamlessly. Often, it sounds like pre-packetized radio picking up two unrelated stations.

Going with two of Heidi's favorites, probably falling asleep crying.

Most of my discworld library is a first edition in some respect, whether UK or US, but the only copy of pyramids i have is a mass market paperback from 19 years later.

Wish You Were Here was dedicated to Syd Barrett, and is my favorite Pink Floyd album. The slow crescendo of "Shine On You Crazy Diamond" into Gilmour's unique blend of blues and prog still hits me in the feels. And hits closer to home.

I've been missing Heidi a lot. Queens of the Stone Age was one of her favorite bands, and several tracks from Songs for the Deaf were part of the normal background of our life together.

I have never been to Las Vegas. I like poker, but other gambling has little appeal to me. I don't drink (any more).

Vegas drips with decadence and lascivious energy, a perfect counterpoint to the brutal practicality of Sam Vimes.

No music tonight. I was never all that into valentine's day, but it was an excuse to do nice things for Heidi. So tonight, I'm remembering her with one of her favorite movies. I miss you so much.

And now for something a bit different. White Collar Lies is catchy and depressing. Cocaine Chest Pains made it onto one of my workout playlists, so checking out the rest of the album.

When dance music got heavy. Liam experimented with guitar samples on The Prodigy's previous album, but Fat of the Land is where everything really came together. From the first track, the album is a relentless, heavy whole.

Diving into some djent, and finishing small gods.

An interesting mix of melody, noise, and dissonance. One often emerging out of the other. Eery, occasionally unsettling. Will have to dig into Vildhjarta's catalog a bit more.

Brooding, heavy, immaculate. Gojira is on the more accessible end of the metal I listen to, and is generally worth checking out if you enjoy guitars and distortion pedals.

Needed something adventurous and familiar at the same time. For me, Coltrane's most well-known album is both a cherished memory and defiant cry that i will not lose hope, even in the darkest hour.

Rolling stone top 100 devolved into unremarkable pop and country, with a smattering of unremarkable albums in other genres, and I'm not subjecting myself to all that.
