I mean, I had at least 6 books I really wanted to bring with me, but I stopped at 2, of which this is one.
I've been really keen to read this for a while now. I read an interview w/the author over a year ago, & whilst initially I approached the article w/skepticism, by the end I was blown away.

For those less interested in lawns, I did make the most delightful discovery when cutting the grass back: we have tiny (wild?) strawberries hidden in amongst the lawn, begonias, & overwhelming weeds.

The view of the moon out of our back window is pretty spectacular tonight. There are some fairly picturesque clouds giving it a great atmospheric vibe, but my phone's camera doesn't readily pick it up through the window.

Believe it or not, my Samsung actually has a zoom feature designed/advertised for taking photos of the moon. Here's one from June last year, taken above my old house.

Life is feeling a bit overwhelming for me right now, so I wanted to share something that made me happy: I've had this hoya fungii since 2008/2009, & this is the first time it's flowered. The lighter photo is this morning, the darker tonight, & you can see flower buds open over just those 12 hours.

The time lapse of a little frog who was less than impressed that I touched him when reaching for the tap (I wasn't looking! I did a head count but wasn't expecting a 2nd frog! I apologised profusely, especially as I'd been harvesting chillies with the hand that reached for the tap!) It looked mad.

Many couples go have romantic dinners for Valentine's Day. @ajacobs.bsky.social & I tend to end up at concerts. Most years, it's a metal band like the Perturbator & Gost double act, or Cattle Decapitation (genuinely), but this year it's one of my favourite bands.

With the guidance and encouragement of @mildlyreal.bsky.social, today I tried to (quick) pickle my crop of Bishop's Crown chillies. I've never pickled a damn thing before. Oh, maybe cucumbers over a decade ago, but I can hardly remember that so I'm not sure it counts. I hope they taste okay.

My family absolutely got my measure for my birthday: a hard to find book for my thesis from my mum, & awesome D&D paraphernalia from my husband. I feel remarkably fortunate, loved, and a bit spoiled.

Thank you for the recommendation, I'll check them out further but I'm not going to lie, this made me seriously laugh in how unthinkingly US-centric (& ultimately inaccurate!) it is.
