We have a couple in Minneapolis, but this will be our first one really designed to function like a roundabout, rather than something more like a circular mixing zone (see attached)

Final paving of the Kenilworth Trail and Midtown Greenway intersection—complete with bike trail roundabout!—is underway now.

Cannot wait for this to finally be completed.

No matter how easy early voting gets, you can't keep this Election Day enjoyer away

(Election night, I sometimes enjoy less)

And new smaller connections and improvements:

- Loring Park to Hennepin cut-through trail
- Hennepin Avenue through Loring Park protection

Picture it: you live in Minneapolis and are enjoying a postcard-perfect fall day riding on our network of over 100 miles of trails and curb-protected bikeways.

Shaved 0:27 off my last Halloween 10K time, 7:07/mi pace enough to finish before the conditions got super gross.

Enjoyed the opportunity to tag along this morning on a Minneapolis bike tour with #ACSP2025 attendees.

Couldn't have dialed up a better fall day for it!

A challenge for Metro Transit's ridership recovery is that many people who could ride the light rail will instead use alternative modes because they can't handle the truth

Since I was last here, Valley Metro's useful yet unflashy one-line L-shaped LRT has graduated into a fully-fledged network.

A southern expansion has precipitated a move to two-line operations (branded A and B) and a fare systems upgrade has finally brought these fun cards and phone payment.

One block over, one of the most unique street designs I've seen, sort of an all-out effort to fill a huge amount of unnecessary width.

One-way bikeway and a one-way traffic lane, separated by a parking and buffer zone that is defended by a kind of curb breakwater.

And ALSO left-side parking!

Newish protected two-way curb-protected bikeway in Phoenix!

There's a lot of width to work with here, the bikeway seems about 13' including the gutter pan.

One travel lane and (some very little-used) street parking on the other side.

Inexplicably decided to run to Saint Paul this morning, what was I thinking

I've been reading perhaps too much into this weekend's @minnesotaorchestra.org program, the second of two season opening concerts.

I found it to be a quite moving statement. The first three pieces by American composers and the fourth, circling back to the first, literally made in America.

The third and final Northstar Run is in the books!

Looking forward to cooler temperatures next weekend for the ten miler...

I'm calling it: this Friday, September 26th, will be the third (and final) Northstar Run.

Come join me on the 4:30p northbound train, get off at Fridley, and then run back approximately 7.7 miles to Target Field Station!

Minneapolis is a walking and rolling city.
Minneapolis is a bicycling city.
Minneapolis is a transit city.

Stop by the Public Works tent at Open Streets Hennepin and let's talk about how to make it even more so!
September 20, 2025 at 4:26 PM
Starting in a half hour and running from 4-6, we are celebrating transit at The Commons, just steps from US Bank Stadium Station.

Stop on by and grab a donut on your way home!

It's Transit to Work Day in Minneapolis!

Here's my transit commute hack: I take whichever Route 18 shows up first (northbound or southbound it doesn't matter) and use it to connect to an Orange Line BRT station at either Lake or 46th. And I speed into downtown from there.

Yes, screencapping here.

But the SDG is not prescriptive on signage/paint.
