I like public transport, but there is no point in giving a subsidy to people traveling long fossil-fueled distances. Get a bus to Christchurch, and don't go to Auckland or Australia!

I'm happy to see the law removed, but no biggie. I've always worn a helmet when cycling (since I cycled to school in the 80s) so it's completely normal to me.
I'd focus on quiet streets. Bring back 30k speed limits and beef up decent cycling infrastructure so everyone feels safe on a bike.
