CryoEM and structural biology methods, drug discovery. Also: Celtics, Camus, rocksteady, drum and bass. He, him, his.
Wonderful talk by the legendary Jane Richardson today on validation of #cryoEM and #xray protein structures as part of the S2C2 modeling and validation workshop at SLAC. I continue to be amazed by how deeply she understands macromolecular geometry.

Oh my. This is just gorgeous from Misha Kudryashev's lab (I don't think he's here yet?). Love to see it. V ATPase resolved directly in synaptic vesicles 🤤 Lots of other neat observations in there also. Congrats to all involved! www.pnas.org/doi/10.1073/...

If you were the #cryoEM reviewer on a paper with this supplementary figure, what would you say?

Hey @united - your United Cares website appears broken on Chrome (incl incognito mode) - I have been getting this error every time before I can even complete the form... help?

Is the @EMDB_EMPIAR 3D-view component in the web frontend open source? Or based on an open-source project?

House hunting in California makes it clear how explicitly racist this land was. Below the key clause of a 1924 covenant I just came across. "The above described property shall not be transferred to a person or persons not of the Caucasian race".

Just finished one that I think took me ~6 hours, over 3 days. Unfortunately the authors didn't submit to @biorxivpreprint. Grrr. On the plus side, I saw this on the publisher's reviewer portal for the first time, which I thought was great! I continue to sign all my reviews...

Hey @gmail, it's "these data", not "this data"

Some crazy auto-complete action in Google when typing "bioRxiv" into the search box. I can't believe this is the most common thing folks are asking about @biorxivpreprint. How sad.

Here's another TRPA1 story from our drug discovery pipeline that includes a #cryoEM structure, which illuminates the MOA of the small molecule ligand. This is the 3rd distinct TRPA1 binding pocket we have described in recent publications!...

Yikes. This paper was submitted several months (June) after I am certain beyond doubt the author was aware of the FSC-FDR manuscript (bioRxiv and JSB submt in March, accepted July) https://www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/2020.03.13.990705v1 which seems highly relevant to another...

@MendeleySupport what's with DOI "Lookup failed" with valid DOIs? E.g. 10.1101/2020.05.21.106740 is valid, resolved by <a href="http://doi.org," class="hover:underline text-blue-600 dark:text-sky-400 no-card-link" target="_blank" rel="noopener" data-link="bsky">http://doi.org, but Mendeley (1.19.4) gives "Lookup Failed"

Welp - I've found a limit in Jira... what do you mean my story can't be longer than 32,767 characters?!?

I've only just begun parsing this manuscript. I'm obviously very interested in understanding the impact of the monochromator and aberration corrector. This figure seems key, but I am not sure it's a fair comparison....

What's the point of this atom inclusion score anyway? Can we just get rid of it? With my favored threshold (for visualization), I get ~50% red bars in PDB validation report. Grrrrr.
