Yea, writing historical fiction can be a challenge to balance reader's expectations of the time based on other media, historical accuracy, and also just... letting yourself not get too bogged down in either of those things and just having a bit of fun.

I once wrote a 1920s erotic mystery on another penname and someone said it was poorly researched because "women in the 20s didn't go to university" and also "women in the 20s didn't have sex without marriage". Both provably false when looking at contemporaneous sources, but kinda bummed me out.

I keep meaning to make time for this one.
