I always love the in-depth conference poster discussions, and today was no difference. #HUPO2025 is off to a great start so far

Diese #Klimademo war laut, bunt, wütend, hoffnungsvoll - ich bin stolz auf dich #Berlin, weiter so 💪🏻

My favorite one is the "Anti-Mass Spectrometer" from legendary computer game Half-Life. Physicist Gordon Freeman measures an alien sample in it, which triggers the "Resonance Cascade" that causes aliens to take over the research facility. No mention unfortunately of the "Anti-Proteome"

As extra confirmation, main figure 4 uses the same underlying DIA raw files with Met-containing peptides filtered out. If we had kept them in, it would have looked the same for all search engines (github.com/msaid-de/chi...)

Thanks for bringing this to our attention - this is caused by Met-containing peptides in the LFQ Benchmark DIA files. We state in the Methods that we filter these out, but in E10-C they slipped through. We fixed this and quantification now looks as expected (github.com/msaid-de/chi...)

I want to give a special shoutout: the @us-hupo.bsky.social commitment of active outreach to, support of and financial assistance for folks who otherwise might not find their way into the #proteomics community. It gives me hope, and will secure strong and creative science for the field

Not science:

Yesterday at the #climateStrike, today at CSD queer winter #pride "Vote Love". One week to go for German federal elections, and #Berlin is rising up. This is what free speech looks like Mr Vance

Not science:

Just returned from a demonstration against Germany's conservative party leader trying (and failing) to cooperate with right wing extremists. 160,000 people rose up on this cold day, just in Berlin alone 🔥 ten thousands more all over Germany ❤️ So proud of this city 💪🏻

As long as it stays in Camel Up xD

I just played "Dorfromantik" with my parents, a great cooperative tile placement game. It was fantastic, except my mum kept getting visibly upset when the cherry blossom tiles weren't properly aligned

I'm not a big fan of the "Quote post" feature, because it's often used to shame or dunk on posts (also in the science community). While Mastodon does not allow it for that reason, I do like that Bluesky gives you the option to deactivate it for your posts (under ... > interaction settings)
