Today is World Mental Health Day. As an Army EOD officer and a Reserve Sheriff’s Deputy, I’ve seen how stress, trauma, and isolation can stack up.

I also lost my dad to mental health struggles, and I carry that with me every day. Asking for help shows strength, not weakness.

Marie knows what it’s like to run for office not for power or status, but to help people. I’m incredibly grateful to have her in this fight with me.

Happy Father’s Day.

Thinking about the men who shaped me today. My dad, who I miss everyday, gave me my roots, the lessons, the grit, the love that started it all. He didn’t have to step in, but he did, and I’ll always be grateful for the example he’s set.

Last week I gathered in Washington DC with veterans from around the country. We stood in solidarity against the proposed cuts to the VA, and blatant disrespect the administration and its officials have shown to our service members.
