A UK wealth tax sounds simple: "tax the super‑rich, fund public services"

But it's not.

Our 16,000 word deep‑dive shows revenues are fragile, it puts growth, investment and jobs at risk, and there's no revenue before 2029.

Here’s the evidence:

What does progressive tech policy look like? In our piece for the @thefabians.bsky.social, @sasjkia.bsky.social and I are optimistic about the UK's future as a tech power - as long as we proceed with a healthy dose of scepticism about the status quo and refuse to abandon our progressive values

We’ve been working with @moreincommonuk.bsky.social to see how fixed views on the 2 child limit are. Turns out good messaging can really change minds.
Third area is maintaining two child benefits cap. We know that overall voters are oppose removing the cap 36-49, but work we have done with @jrf-uk.bsky.social shows that voters views on the two child cap are not immutable - message testing shows attitudes can shift depending on case made.

The USAID news is painful, especially thinking of the friends I met working in Malawi. As well as the devastating immediate impacts, this decision means job losses for 1000s of hardworking people who'd made careers trying to change their country for the better.
