For #FountainPenDay2025... I’ve been using refillable fountain pens since 2017. It was another thing I could stop treating as disposable. (I used to blow through Pilot G-2s.) These are more fun. I’ve misplaced 2 pens, but thrown away 0. I’ve IDed these in the alt text if you’re curious.

Honeycrisp, all the way. You just need to get them at The Apple Store, where they sell number 2s more cheaply because they have invisible faults. (A friend of mine from out of town once needed an iPhone cable and was led here by Google maps!)

I’m drawing strength from this fugitive tomato plant, growing from a crack in an alley downtown… I hope it bears fruit before the freeze. #MetaphorsAreEverywhere

The selfie I've been using is approaching double digits, so I thought I'd upload a new one that's more reflective of what I look like today, namely grayer and more beardier.

Idling at an antique mall, a man comes across a little yellow Kodak box. "What is it?" he says and takes it off the shelf. It's a lens hood, yellow filter, and UV filter made to fit his Kodak from 1954. "This is the kind of consumerism I can get behind," he murmured to himself. #BelieveInFilm

I found a data point! The AP US History test breaks time into periods, period 9 is 1980 to the present. Seems like our brightest kids know very little about it… 10% answered each of those questions correctly.

We celebrated Pinhole Photography Day by making a camera with Nick D. at the Photo Opp in Appleton, WI. On Sunday, the youngest and I did a photowalk in an industrial part of town. Very cool. The populist takes 120 film. Here are the plans: tinyurl.com/mpdxh8w #BelieveInFilm #Wisconsin #IShootFilm

Every now and then it's worthwhile to go for a trawl in your archives. Somehow this photo had ever stood out to me until today.

New acquisition to the collection! The 1948 Vanport flood was a manmade disaster that displaced 18,000 and killed 15. This is why you've ever been to Vanport, OR. This was wartime public housing. I'm impressed with how sharp this photo is, the details are great. #photography #Oregon #FoundPhoto

Does the Kodak Stereo Camera count for the #ShittyCameraChallenge? It might be too nice. If you put your face right up to this picture and kind of focus through it letting your brain do its thing.... the pelican might bite you. It takes a little practice, but it's very cool. #BelieveInFIlm

So after grappling with my job status in light Trump’s EO for a week (I still have a job on Monday), I took some personal time yesterday and f’ed off to the territories.

I’m grateful to live in a beautiful place, to have a pastime that brings me joy, and a community. #BelieveInFilm #Wisconsin
