Might want to take a look at BobbyBroccoli's three parter on America's "missing supercollider" over on YouTube! (Or any of his stuff but that one is particularly interesting due to the politics)

The issue is that far right media is *accessible* bc it's partly funded by rich conservatives. I'm not smart enough to know how to fix it but it IS an issue that needs some serious thought. How can you fight misinfo when the truth costs $5.99?

But then there's the other side of that issue: how much of the non-soc med internet is behind paywalls. I really hope we see a rise in reader supported grassroots journalism bc the institutional outlets have become a clown show.

Soc med has been"free" bc we, the users, are the product sold to advertisers and it would be interesting to see a new soc med site try a new model. Maybe it doesn't work but at least someone would've tried it 🤷

Since bluesky is a clean slate, I'd love to see them offer paid customization/extra feature *options*. See how it goes before bringing in any ad money (bc obviously not everyone can/will pay). Tumblr did it too late but a culture of user support for a better/less ad heavy *service* would be nice imo

Anyway, as eval/promo season wraps up there are some ppl I'm really rooting for to get promotions and others who I am 😬 about the possibility of them going to management (and others in Very Senior positions I wish would fucking retire already)
