@sarahbagley.bsky.social I just watched a woman with a stroller go into the street against traffic to get around this car parked over the sidewalk. I called non-emergency police and was told the city can't do anything in this situation because the car is in the driveway. Is this correct?

This doesn't sound like someone who is a strong advocate for Duke Street BRT. Using coverage ("accessibility") as an excuse to design a lower-ridership system is exactly the type of argument opponents use to kill projects like this.

I know it looks a little complicated, but I promise I'm not very handy and it was actually pretty easy. Just a drill, screws, and some washers to hold the hardware cloth on. You can usually find a free/cheap old door that has lost the screen and then just cover it with hardware cloth.

Any idea why they think the arena project will reduce traffic times on SB Route 1 between E. Glebe and First St. (from 8-12 to 6-10)? I don't see any planned changes for that stretch of Route 1 other than the intersections with Potomac Ave and Slater's Lane. Not sure what I'm missing.

Mr. Mayor, any idea whether the delay in the Mt. Vernon Avenue North Project is related to transportation planning for the arena? You know as well as anyone how badly we need improvements at the Glebe/Mt Vernon intersection so it's quite disappointing to have this decision delayed.

You've probably seen this already, but the opponents of zoning changes printed a ton of these and are distributing them around the city this weekend.
