Conclusion of my brisk, rainy and windy walk? I am really happy that the city is building out more bike lanes and the city can do so much better than what they're currently doing.

And one other thing I hadn't considered, if a person swings their door all the way out, they can potentially cause someone biking in the lane to crash.

Because portions of the bike lane are lower than the street, debris gets swept in there by the rain and people treat the bike lane like its the street. They'll dump trash or leave their trash cans in the bike lanes.

The raised bus platforms are excellent but not entirely accessible. All bus platforms are not accessible from the sidewalk, some intersections have curb cuts going into traffic not the crosswalk, others have lamps in the middle of the platforms.

Portions of the bike lane are raised, level with the sidewalk. As a result there is little trash, debris or flooding in these sections. When the section is lowered to the street, notice how there are issues with flooding/water pooling.

And when I mean realistic, the second I woke up I ran to the mirror thinking I had actually done it. My eyebrows are still all there thank God.

LA is home but I do prefer living car free and in walking distance of my friends here in Oakland.

In NYC due to a lack of housing and constant, rising demand, rents are well above the national average. In Oakland, my home, rents are remaining steady due to an increase in housing production. These are some national examples & I can get more specific but this is Bluesky & I only have so much time.

Housing prices are set by market demand, because there is a lack of housing and a constant demand, rents will go up. In areas where we see steady housing production, like in Texas, housing costs remain low.

Stopped at this intersection again because the flooding was the worst here, looks like the water is supposed to drain into the bike lane?

Live downtown so if you need more photos I can probably get some, and you're welcome!

How a flawed idea is teaching millions of kids to be poor readers
For decades, schools have taught children the strategies of struggling readers, using a theory about reading that cognitive scientists have repeatedly debunked. And many teachers and parents don't kno...
