I had the privilege of collaborating on this project ~3 weeks into my PhD! It was such a cool experience working with the youngest (at the time) rocks on earth!!
⚒️ Can we measure magma storage depths fast enough to support volcanic observatories during ongoing eruptions? In our new JPET paper, we teamed up with HVO to simulate real-time rapid-response CO2 fluid inclusion barometry at Kīlauea, HI. We got depths in 1 day! How? Read on! (1/5)

Why do mantle petrologists only eat uncrustables instead of regular PB&J sandwhichesq?
They’re not interested in the crust…

Last call to add your voice to this presentation by Wed Oct 11, so we can pull the contributions together in time for GSA! If you will be at the conference, start your Tuesday off with us at 8:35 am (I know it's early - please don't make me give this talk to an empty room lol)
The IAGD is building a presentation about the things that give us joy as people with disabilities in the geosciences.
Add your voice to this collaborative project by Oct 11 to be included in the presentation at GSA! All contributions welcome, big or small: forms.gle/4DNSfnToCGpS...

We use this diagram extensively in my geochemistry class. This suggests that the absence of noodles puts us on the water --> broth --> salad binary, depending on how much vegetation is present in the aquarium?

Hi everyone! I finally made the switch over to this site. My name is Alex (he/him) and I am Earth and Planetary Science PhD student in the VIBE lab at UC Berkeley. I am primarily a volcanologist / igneous petrologist that also dabbles in geochemistry and isotopes.
