Agree. My meat-loving husband actually prefers meat substitutes in some recipes. (My son is vegetarian & I try to stay on the vegetarian wagon). He thinks that Boca crumbles make better tacos than real meat, and likes the Impossible Italian sausages.

Newbie is in some scenario where he’s spying on Moneypenny & Lashana Lynch’s 007 (who’s now been promoted to 005), & hears them kvetching about how he “may be a 007, but he’s just not James Bond.” He’s furious.

New 007 should be a brash young newbie incarnated into the same universe as the most recent Bond, and M, Q, Moneypenny, etc should all suffering from PTSD from the loss of Daniel Craig’s Bond. Newbie should have a chip on his shoulder from constantly being compared to the dead guy.

New Bond has to deal with everybody’s baggage about the old Bond.

And he thinks, “Maybe being the old man isn’t so bad…” (bc he thinks that maybe he will get to fuck her).

But nope! She’s gonna mentor him like the old Bond mentored her! No sexy time!

Bring some ex-Bond girl back like Olga Kurylenko who was once a novice and is now an old pro… who can look at the New Bond and say “Ah. You remind me of him,” and reminisce about her youth and the passage of time.

Newbie is tired of being endlessly compared to this James Bond guy. Newbie is young & hungry. He feels like he’s got the goods & wants to be recognized in his own right, make his OWN name!

But once when he proves that he’s in the Big Leagues… they just start calling him that other guy’s name.

It’d be funny if the explanation was that all the characters (M, Q, Moneypenny, etc) were traumatized by the loss of Daniel Craig’s Bond & kept unfavorably comparing the new 007 to them. And when the new 007 finally earned their trust he was like “Okay, so am I James Bond NOW?”
