I came up with a guide to tell if Trump is lying or not:

I've been playing with carbonation in an iSi whipper. I broke some of Dave Arnold's rules in making this drink, and it was a happy accident. He says that you get better bubbles if you clarify the cocktail before you carbonate. This may be true, and I'm not sure how long these bubbles will #Cheers

Two fun bottles for Christmas: 2020 La Taille Aux Loups vdf and 2020 Domaine De la Taille aux Loups Remus from Montlouis sur Loire. Jacky Blot, the winemaker, was a compatriot of François Chidaine and, like him, employs organic farming with old-vine Chenin. Both wines were very good, although I

First, ethanol likely began to be produced around 100mya, with the evolution of sugar-rich fruit from flowering plants. This coincides with an intuition I had: dinosaurs got drunk.
Second, naturally-produced ethanol in fruit ranges to .2 percent at the low end to up to 10.3 percent in overripe

Just got a delivery from Cyprus: Archontiko Maratheftiko 2021. Maratheftiko is one of the few extant grape varietals that is non-hermaphroditic and thus must be hand pollinated, making production more labor-intensive than typical grape growing. I didn't know what to expect, but I'm pleasantly

Wine post. Thought I'd share this diagram on vine grafting from Pasceline Lapeltier's 1000 Vines. For those that don't know, most wines we drink involve a vitis vinifera vine grafted on to non-vinifera rootstock. This has been the case ever since Phylloxera devastated French vineyards at the turn:

I suggest reading this passage from Uwe Johnson's Anniversaries in its entirety. It really highlights the daily indignities with which the Nazi party filled Germany even before the camps and the Final Solution. Background: Methfessel is the butcher and Semig is the Jewish veterinarian who has been

Me and the goon went up to Crater Lake (Indian Peaks Wilderness outside Granby). The map said 7.5 miles in, 7.5 out. But that was just to the Crater Lake Recreational Area. It was another 1.5 miles to Crater Lake. So 18 miles total. We're beat.

Last Thursday night, curried goat's leg a la Duck's Eatery (rest in peace). No photos, alas, but it came out perfectly. Made the curry base and the stock myself. Lana loves it when I make chicken stock because she gets boiled chicken (photo for good measure). www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/whol...
