And Tiny Tim, who did NOT die, grew up to fulfill his dream of becoming a penguin.

He now lives a quiet life with his family in the American southwest.

I say this with zero irony: if you are even tangentially a part of a retro video game community, it is your civic duty to push back against this company and shun anyone who doesn't. This is fascism tapping gently at the door and as soon as you let it in, it's going to invite its friends.

I reject the premise that the AVATAR movies contain no substance.

The often-cited emptiness people feel when leaving the theater post-AVATAR is you telling on yourself. You just saw the solution via a sci-fi fantasy film. The ultra-obvious metaphor embarrasses and shocks the cynical mind.

Glad to see a lot of the legacy Hong Kong John Woo movies finally hitting Criterion. The end of A BETTER TOMORROW II is an all-timer.

Still waiting for Joseph Kahn's TORQUE to show up tho~~~

Just in time for Christmas, my review of SCREAM 2 from back at the end of Halloweentime!

Movie not good. It sent my brain back in time to the ferocious 2010s blog mindset. If you miss that era (and you do, because you're hanging out on New Twitter), it's a throwback!

!!GET BONUS!!

I punched up a review after an impromptu re-watch of the absolute all-time banger: ASSAULT ON PRECINCT 13

Mean and brutal in the most 70s ways possible.

A ★★★ review of Assault on Precinct 13 (1976)
The original 1973 ASSAULT ON PRECINCT 13 is sorta a proto-zombie movie. Our setup: A cop transfers to a dilapidated precinct, tasked with running it for one night before it moves into a new building a...

Last but not least in this review batch, FRIDAY THE 13TH PART IV - THE FINAL CHAPTER

The best Jason movie? Does anyone care? Does any of this mean anything?

A ★★★ review of Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter (1984)
It does it so well, I can’t help but laugh? Okay, so, listen, slasher movies are still dumb as shit. Like, don’t we feel victimized by the plainest setup ever? Breaking it way, way too far down, the f...

We also rewatchex Jordan Peele's US for Halloween and I liked it more this time.

It's metaphor feels even more blunt, but it also is a story about the inadvertent effects we have on others in society, and some sad realities about the "impact" of pop-art.

I SAW THE TV GLOW is a terrifying warning about how being untrue to yourself can flush away your whole entire life.

I'll leave the analysis of its trans-specific narratives to those more informed, but I loved this movie.

Last one today, the countryside horror Netflix classic(?) APOSTLE from the director of THE RAID and HAVOC.

I kinda love this one, because I'm a sucker for slow-burn dread and stories where guys get stuck on Weird Islands and have to survive.

These reviews are going up out of order and it also feels bizarre as hell to post this 4 minutes after a David Lynch classic, but, uh, we also watched:

After a long social media exile, we are so back!!

This is seriously a day late and a dollar short, but I'm still motivated to run back my Letterboxd reviews of the spooky movies we watched during October.
