We have ducks next door that our dog is obsessed with getting at, which inspired my (semi-)original composition, “Don’t go chasing waterfowl.” (Instead, I urge her to stick to the ravens and the larks that she’s used to.) That’s the best I’ve got. It has been a rough week.

This makes me want to claw my face off. THIS. THIS RIGHT HERE IS THE PROBLEM. Not “viewing” something in economic terms doesn’t mean it magically exists outside of economics! It just means it is unlikely to be recognized as important, supported, or subsidized.

Lest you think I am just weeping gently while doing nothing, I am in fact soothing self with math—i.e. concrete, absorbing problems that I know have solutions. (Is weeping gently while doing math sounding…worse somehow?)
