Got the LRT wayfinding designs out of my info request finally- there's this "keep it moving" sticker that can go on platforms where people naturally crowd where they shouldn't... @helps.octranspo.com any chance we can get something like this on the platforms at Carleton?

@helps.octranspo.com @somersetward.bsky.social Some very attractive and muscular men came and lifted this bench behind Pimisi back into place today, but there are still a few boards missing from the benches themselves

@helps.octranspo.com A new bus pad/platform was built for Rotary/Nettle (#3394) several weeks ago but the stop flag has not been moved there yet. Just want to make sure this work order wasn’t forgotten

Diagram of all current indefinite Temporary Speed Restrictions in effect on Line 1. This info has not been public but I finally got an MFIPPA released recently so I can share this. All TSRs except the ones at the ends are at the request of Alstom, and have been in place since the LRT inquiry in 2022

At Gladstone/Bronson, the one intersection in the study area you'd have to make caution with, the smallest width of the ROW is ~18.5 meters, and you can comfortably fit the existing left turn lane with sidewalks, traffic lanes, and cycle tracks in 18 meters.

Baseline is wide and a miserable experience as a pedestrian for all its length but 88 is our busiest route. The winding spaghetti like road network, as well as a low operating budget out west means routes are forced to maximize coverage at the cost of speed, frequency, directness, and connectivity

I had sent you (and a few other councillors) a while back this modified map showing the “frequent” routes that don’t actually run frequently… does this person know there aren’t any buses in the west end that run every 15 minutes? (besides the 68 sometimes, but that’s Hazeldean…)

It's the tightest squeeze possible but this right of way can have tracks laid and a freight train can pass through with no problem. See on satellite view that the fence south of Bayview follows the right of way. The star is a real life milepost for a very specific 0.2km, marking the switch location

Of course, Toronto Union is a far better city centre station than the options we really have, but it's my understanding our suburb-suburb, suburb-inner burb, inner burb-inner burb travel is a higher % of demand than in the GTA. CP+ Beachburg subs could be a reasonable route to satiate the demand

I think it's important to remember that especially in Canada and even more especially in Ottawa, connecting (good😑) feeder bus service can carry a lot of the weight that subpar-to-okay land use around rail stations would bring. Lakeshore East moves ~25k a day, mostly runs every 30m, and looks like:

E-ink next stop displays showing up after the last time it was mentioned as a pilot project 2 years ago. I had asked Renee Amilcar about at a budget meeting last year and she had no idea what e-ink was. Hilarious there's been no updates and one just pops up out of nowhere

Canada Day closure comes from the feds at the request of emergency services as they don't want overcrowding on Booth Street, blocking emergency vehicles access. Pimisi was also open during Canada Day, just the Booth entrances were closed. It handled the crowds fine

Which is true in a lot of ways, but you have to imagine the trade offs for an extra emergency door or 80m of fencing are negligible at best. Project contingency is a major issue in NA and would contribute far more to overall cost than safety features across a project that often serve a good purpose

Today's fun fun fact: The average delay on the 14 Tunney's/StL during the evening peak is over eleven and a half minutes- a route that is supposed to run every fifteen!
