Global Citizens in every country need a democratic Inter-Dependence Movement.

Autocrats and tyrants have leveraged their influence on traditional and social media to divide and rule.

Democracy and consensus are difficult to achieve and vulnerable to subversion by big money and coordinated attack.

Fight Oligarchy, yes,

or as I've said in a UK context:

STOP the BOATs - Billionaires, Oligarchs, Autocrats, Tyrants

Those of us everywhere, who have the luxury of not having to deal with this on a daily basis, must do all we can to shift our societies away from the polarisation, tribalism, fear & hatred that leads to "strong man" leaders who "defend" our interests by attacking others

Peace, Justice, Cooperation!

When I first heard of the protest group Extinction Rebellion, I thought it was about species extinction. Human extinction, although a dire prospect, is a long way down the line. It may be too late for these white rhinos, but we should all be Species Extinction Rebels

10 of the world's most endangered animals
As our modern society gets more resource-intensive, natural spaces are shrinking, wildlife numbers are declining, and species are still endangered.

STOP THE BOATs!

Billionaires, Oligarchs, Autocrats and Tyrants

Oh, and all wannabe BOATs

I worry that despite making a complete tit of himself, this won't undermine his standing with his supporters. Facts don't matter, just "concerns". We're well into the era of tribal politics, led by you know who ...

Gov't defeated. Good. Review all arrests, yes.

The fundamental right to protest must be maintained, but within existing limits. "Wilful obstruction of the highway" under the Highways Act 1980 is a useful limit. Extending this to cover any disruption which may be more than minor is a step too far.

Deregulate all you like. Let speculators speculate with their own money, not mine. And if they lose it all, tough. Don't come to the taxpayer for a bail out. Keep derivatives out of retail banking. Never mistake a Ponzi scheme for organic growth in the economy. Too big to fail is too big.

Money in the economy is like water in nature, when it circulates everyone benefits. But if the flow of money slows and is allowed to accumulate in the hands of very few people, we shouldn't be grateful for any trickles. These are no substitute for a healthy circulation. We need FLOW not TRICKLES!

Strength, determination and commitment are nothing without a common unifying cause with organisation, plans, resources and influence. Words alone are not enough. Opposing our enemies is not enough. We need new leaders with a compelling and inclusive vision of peace, justice and cooperation. Who?

We mustn't forget the crimes of Hamas & the ongoing "struggle" that perpetuates a war they can't win. Hamas are doing Palestinians no favours

But yes, protest against Israeli actions is essential. Words & paint are a necessary response to Israeli war crimes & genocide. These are not terrorist acts

I have a half formed plan in my head for an Interdependence Movement. The motto is "Peace, Justice & Cooperation"

Strong societies are made up of strong independent people, but grow stronger when we recognise our interdependence and work together for common interests

"Strength, Compassion, Reason"

Exactly.

I have a proposal.

Given where we are, we can't just act unilaterally and presume the world will follow our lead. Let's prepare to defend ourselves and our friends, but declare our intention for peace by spending 1% of our defence budget on peace initiatives.

That's £500m pa on peace

A little exaggerated, but comparing what I saw In San Francisco to what I see in Manchester, we may have a slight edge, but homelessness isn't a non-issue here!
