Time to establish a new proper left wing party that stands up for workers and all new zealanders that has good centrist policies and a charismatic leader to get 500 members and register as a political party in the next few months. How about “The Right Party” but which has solid left wing policies.

Businesses could just offer that OT in employment agreements and keep 4 weeks annual leave 🤔

Since the black plague, lockdowns have proven to work. The annual lockdowns in the 1950s against polio also worked.

The Pitt, with its measles episode, accurately summed up the utter idiocy of the antivaxx crowd.

Social media needs to be banned for those over 50. The kids are alright.

And now with the giant hornet, threatening the honey industry.

It’s a day late and a dollar short when it comes to bio-incursions.

It’ll become a “national disaster” when the clams end up in Nelson’s blue lakes and then billions will be spent. But too late by then.

Well NZ didn’t bother stopping the spread of didymo (easiest solution would have been a boat wash at the ferry terminals)

It doesn’t seem bothered stopping this (kai iwi lakes example today)

National love cutting MPI funding, hence why Harlequin Bugs established (threatening wine industry)

Is the Medicard otherwise Labour’s attempt for citizens to display it to ensure they get free healthcare and limit tourists coming to NZ for medical treatment for free? (We all know of how Americans come to NZ on a tourist visa for free heart surgery).

What is MediCard actually good for in future?
November 30, 2025 at 12:23 PM
The MediCard thing seems inchoate. There is no long term explanation for the MediCard or any link toward protecting NZs public health system. The messaging is abysmal. 3 free visits with a medicard? Wow, yay. What’s the cost in sending effectively a 3 use card? Doesn’t every $ matter?
November 30, 2025 at 12:20 PM
It’s like they saw how Albo pulled out his MediCare card at every debate in Australia and went “lets do that! But call it MediCard!” Rather than “KiwiSure”. It just seems jarring. Why not refresh and promote the age progressive free dental policy which was great?
November 30, 2025 at 7:31 AM
They’re certainly doubling down on their health focus. Whilst health is crucial, their offerings on this front just seem….. bizarre? Unlike Australia’s MediCare, NZ doesn’t have the same slavish devotion to protection of its public health system. Labour seems to be trying to create one?

Do not get the giant sausage or the butterfish if they’re still on the menu. The outdoor BBQ method of cooking meat is a bit hit and miss at Amisfield. Still nicely presented though.

And yet, surprisingly, it’s the one economic style that actually works. Chicago School Economics (profiteering off consumerism) clearly hasn’t worked for the last 40 years.

The party vote is fine, but electorate seats need to change to STV to ensure an MP is voted with majority preferences rather than LAB/Grn candidate getting combined 52% and Nat getting through the middle on 30%. STV works for Wlg council - should be applied in the 70 odd electorate seats.
November 27, 2025 at 9:25 PM
Electorate seats are still FPTP - that’s the issue.

Keynesianomics makes sense for sovereign nations. Spend the money you have to build. Income can be generated from multiple sources. Tax it back out when the private sector is prosperous. Japan’s done it for 30 years and they’re now in 2049.
November 27, 2025 at 12:01 PM
So can you start spending money (Keynes style) on things that matter? Social housing, mass transit, trains. Then tax multiple property owners by removing their 50% CGT deduction after property 2.

Ask the man in the mirror. If you wanna make Australia a better place, are you gonna make the change?
November 27, 2025 at 11:58 AM
Change electorate seat voting to STV instead of FPTP and NZ might progress.

FPTP simply means that 52% of people voting either Labour/Greens ensures a Nat MP gets a seat on 30%.
November 27, 2025 at 11:51 AM
NZ having a FPTP system in electorates makes it *that* much harder when the party vote counts for jack-all.

If electorate seats were STV, Aotearoa might have something approximating MMP. Right now, it just has a popularity contest.

Keeping people in their own nations instead of importing “scarcity mindset” immigrants that refuse to integrate into a society that provides for fairness and opportunity for all. It’s a natural backlash when importing screeds of migrants from such nations in order to maintain GDP growth
November 21, 2025 at 1:16 PM
By whom? The people? They will just vote them back in during the midterms.
