When emperor Nero went to Greece, it didn't take long for the locals to realize that the best way to make him happy was to have him "win" these bogus competitions and give him these bogus trophies.

The thing is, if they can manage to consolidate power, which is what these fascists are trying to do, they won't have to answer for anything. And then it IS all a game. And a substantial percentage of your neighbours are on board for it. They chuckle at every gross comment, every inhumane video.

i'm happy to say that i've never heard that term... until now. Thanks for that. Sometimes, being on the unhip side of a generational divide is just fine. i'll just go back to my Costello CDs now.

i never had a mullet myself. But i witnessed a lot of them. i first saw one while visiting Toronto, and associated it with Canadian hosers for a while. i called it the Yonge Street haircut or the hockey player haircut.

As a punk, i cut my own hair and had some... interesting outcomes.

There's a not-straight that i have tried but failed to claim for my whole life.

The other two are; occasionally but not always, and ongoingly but depending on your perspective.

Which kind of "straight" do you mean. Heterosexual, sober, or the forgotten 60s idea of "straight"; straight-society not counter-culture?

i live in Québec so i speak some French. i'm interested in how languages are structured in different ways. English might be easier to speak without good grammar than many languages. French seems less... forgiving. i wonder if there's a way to see the internal logic of each language... as a code?...
