Aspiring author, wannabe actor, talentless artist, all-around useless human being. He/him mostly. Now featuring a great new flavor!
The Trump administration and the conservative subculture in general are all in favor of affirmative action for the benefit of mediocre white people lol

(I mean I watched it when I was a kid on Saturday mornings but I haven't really watched it since)

I have the Blu-Ray collection of this series from a birthday a few years ago but I've never sat down to watch it... I need to do that lol

The thing I will always remember about Runza is how my parents had a couple friends from Nebraska over for a weekend, and we had just gotten a Runza near us so the friends insisted my parents try it. The wife pitched it by saying, "It's really good, but I don't like it, but it's really good."

Difference is you're making a value judgment on the actions of people that've caused harm, or undermined values like freedom, justice, fairness, etc. Linehan and other TERFs are justifying their reactions without examining them honestly, believing their confusion/disgust is evidence of wrongdoing.

Turkey on Thanksgiving, "I just stayed up all night wrapping presents for you shits I'm not fucking cooking" on Christmas

This is a function of 5E combat being shit IMO

Just cook it and serve it separate (because even if you're having mashed potatoes, yams, and a roll too, you can always eat more carbs on Thanksgiving), spatchcocked turkey requires no stuffing and is basically superior to regular turkey in every possible way

But the fantasy of SW is like modern myth (the worst parts of the prequels, IMO, are when the try to be more sci-fi) and if the tone is off, the whole thing crumbles. The corp-demanded elements destabilize the archetypal fantasy characters more than they do Trek's universe of real people.
November 25, 2025 at 1:44 AM
Trek can weather this because, ostensibly, it's depicting a future of our universe we live in: we can intuit stuff based on our modern life, it makes a few weird/bad choices in writing not stand out as much because it's like history, it doesn't need to make sense, it just needs to jibe.
November 25, 2025 at 1:41 AM
I think the reason Star Wars has a harder time coping with the demands of a corporate puppetmaster than Trek is that SW is fantasy, and Trek is sci-fi. Fantasy needs to be vague, weird, mystical, and lean into it with its plotting and character arcs being more archetypal. Corporate meddling dulls it

'Horse' as a collective noun does crop up in some fantasy novels I've read. "The Dark Master's armies consist of twenty thousand orc foot soldiers, and five thousand horse."

Puberty is such a volatile time that it makes me think, how can anyone think a trans person is just 'faking' or 'crazy' or whatever? If you didn't really deeply feel in your heart and mind you needed it... who would want to go through puberty twice?!
