Is there a way to be politically active when it comes to policy without being an activist or getting into party politics?

I’m really interested in getting involved in policy in some sense, in areas where I have experience, but I’m in no way a political ideologue and find party politics exasperating

Anyone have any recommendations for Spanish language economic/political magazines/periodicals? Am a regular reader of the Economist, Financial Times, Monde Diplomatique etc and looking for a similar Spanish language equivalent.

I struggle to see the Bitcoin investment case, in particular viewed from a risk vs reward perspective.

There’s no getting away from the fact that regulators will eventually be all over this, which would kill the only real bull case.

Feel very fortunate to have become a father in the post COVID world and to have a career which allows me to be able to work significantly from home.

Able to be here for those “firsts” (laughs, steps, words..) which make the difficult moments all worthwhile.

There’s a further damaging outcome of the Employers National Insurance increase.

Along with wage compression, it also takes an element of power away from working people.

Opaquely rising the price of someone’s labour harms their bargaining ability.

Been offline for a few months, and amazing to see the much broader range of accounts and voices on here. Becoming a much fuller experience.

All the while, Twitter has more and more bots and ads.

Really enjoyed this podcast from the IFS highlighting the challenge Rachel Reeves has finding raxes to rise.

A full reform of the UK tax system is well overdue.
How could the Chancellor raise more tax?

The times of low and stable inflation are no more. Volatile geopolitics + climate change -> volatile shipping rates -> inflation volatility.

The times of low inflation and low interest rates are in my view over.

Question: how do you go about finding profiles that suit your interests here on BlueSky?

Am struggling with this so far, but likely is a result of me not being on the platform long enough for the algorithm to adjust.

As someone who lives in the Notting Hill area, given the number and density of people, it is on the whole very well managed and safe. Impressively so.

Any event like this will always have some trouble, that is inevitable, and it is a shame these few troublemakers do cloud such a bright event.

Really curious as to where oil prices go over next twelve months, so many conflicting trends:

UP - Middle East escalation, OPEC cuts, long term CAPEX underinvestment, low inventories.

DOWN - global demand, China, EV demand, continued non-OPEC production.

Unsure why, but on my first day here on BlueSky, my feed seems to be populated with bird watching updates.

Never cared for bird watching before, but I am here for it.

Should I start posting pigeon sightings?

Question: What has led people to this alternative platform as opposed to say Threads or Mastodon? Is it generally based on where profiles you have previously followed have migrated to?

Who am I? A father, a husband, a Londoner, who between nappy changes and washing bibs is trying to keep up with politics, macroeconomics, markets, music, pop culture and the mighty Watford FC.

Good morning BlueSky! I have done what many others appear to be doing, escaping the endless spam and dodgy algorithm of the "other place", to join somewhere hopefully more engaging and *fingers crossed* just a nicer place to be!

Lovely to meet you all, enchanté!
