The Edinburgh Evening News of 6/1/1893, says she was walking near Leigh Parish Church when a boy threw the snowball. The EEN believed it contained a stone. Either way, it apparently caused clots that killed her.

Birmingham Daily Post of 9/1/1893 indicates she died a month after being hit in the eye with a hard snowball. Contd....

An Elizabeth Rowan aged 74, is recorded on in the ScotlandsPeople records as having died at Glasgow on 17 April 1767. Parents/other details given as Wilson/Steven Rowan, but would need to be checked on the records, as I don't have the credits
