and at LEAST make it interesting for the reader, not from the worldbuilding standpoint... even the Red Chamber was more intriguing than this. and it's more cohesive... this genuinely hurts to read

unfortunately i can't stop now but man... wish they'd at least throw a crumb amidst it all. I'm all for political intrigue when it comes to writing, but it gets to a point.
