I loved the ending to the good place. One of the only show finales I’ve ever watched that left me genuinely pleased

Apparently this guy is truly one of those ppl that said “I go to hooters for the food”

I didn’t know that, but of course he is. Sue his opponents into bankruptcy.

Defer to the courts he put in place and are loyal to him? Checks out.

Not possible on most other online platforms…

Just I side note, I’m loving this conversation and the fact that we can have a reasonable and sensible discussion about this.

And also, he may have kept rates lows but he never issued cash payments.

I completely agree with you. You’re totally right. He shouldn’t have done what he did in the first term. But
I still feel like he reacted at least a lil bit appropriately on the measures he took to tamp down what he may have helped
create.

You’re right. But I that sense, isn’t capitalism a massive blazing fire?
July 18, 2025 at 11:57 PM
I suppose… but at the time that they did it didn’t it seem like more or less the right thing to do? It was chaos on an unprecedented scale. No one knew what was coming next. I feel like the point that we’re at, things are not that bad. Not great for sure, but maybe the bad parts are a bit overblown

i think it's painful to come to the realization that a lot of powerful people - including many who say they're on the side of truth and democracy - were willing to affirmatively endorse child rape because it meant that racist and anti-worker policies they approve of would be implemented
I think what has made us all feel like we are taking crazy pills is that these stories have been public knowledge for years and nobody did anything about it!

Yup. This shit is not sustainable. I’m just waiting for the shoe to drop at this point.

💯

Yeah. You’re right. Maybe Powell didn’t do the best thing in the first place, but ultimately I think he, and the whole fed board, did the best they could (and, again, in my opinion did it well). Ultimately, what does this even matter? Trumps “BBB” only adds to the problem.
July 18, 2025 at 11:05 PM
Wasn’t it trump that allowed the multiple stimulus? Maybe Biden did one too? Can’t recall exactly. Either way, the fed is completely independent of those types of actions as far as I know. The fed controls rates, not how federal dollars are spent. Please correct me if I’m wrong,

Or this!
July 18, 2025 at 10:34 PM
Prob can’t hurt 😅
July 18, 2025 at 10:03 PM
I agree. But I will say that I think Powell handeld inflation/rates pretty well in the last few years.

Also, he’s a deadhead 😎😅
July 18, 2025 at 10:02 PM
Exactly. This is what they do. Market fluctuations of that type is how ppl in the know will amass their
Wealth.
July 18, 2025 at 9:20 PM
Yep, I hope so too. The markets are completely irrational, but they’ll get a little closer to rational really quick when the shit hits the fan. Give it 6-18 months. I’m pretty confident it will happen.

Also the AI stock surges are a replica of the dotcom boom/bust in the early 00’s.
July 18, 2025 at 8:46 PM
You are absolutely correct. That’s how he’s enriching himself and his close allies. But I still think that he ultimately cares overall. He’s a “business man” and doesn’t want to go down in history as the president that decimated the markets.
July 18, 2025 at 8:37 PM
Not to mention that the only measure of success he actually cares about is the stock market. And lord knows the markets will not take the news of Powell getting fired well.
